Wow! As a new West Havenite reading information like that is most disturbing. I have had a few encounters with City Hall since moving here and to say the least -- I have questioned their accountability. This is a great city with lots of potential ... its due time the people trusted with managing it start.

Hey, what happened to this site? There's been a lot going on in W.H. lately. The wonderful election of John Biancur to WSFD Commissioner. No tax increases fro 2007-2008.... But there is still work to be done....

This weekend (9/30/07) the New Haven Register Editorial explored the recent audit and the sad state of financial affairs in our fine Metropolis.

"...the deficit was $1M larger than anticipated ($14.39M)...14 other city accounts had deficits...West Haven now has the worst credit rating of any city in Connecticut and has turned to the State for help...the audit was delayed eight times for incomplete records and is full of warnings about potential error and fraud....lack of adequate financial controls...financial software is improperly used, if at all...$170,000,000 in debt...can't afford to borrow...facing the reality ofbare bone budgeting...the hard times are far from over"
