According to this July 28th WFSB report, $500,000 of sand was recently put on the beaches... and it will wash away again. This year's sand, imported in 11,000 truckloads from Cape Cod, was paid by West Haven taxpayers.
The Mayor's office is petitioning the state for $1 million to replenish the sand annually...
